Architect
Carson Design Associates is seeking an experienced Architect to join our Indianapolis, Indiana team. This position will be responsible for designing, planning, coordinating, and administering projects supporting our firm portfolio. The ideal candidate will have experience in all phases of design and be a positive, dynamic, and proactive individual who possesses strong technical, interpersonal, and communication skills, is highly creative, values a team environment, and is skilled at managing multiple priorities.
The Job Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Code review and interpretation, including practical project application to support other staff members
Creation and planning of the conceptual design of a project or major portions of a project
Conceptual site planning and initial zoning review
Leading the design process by generating concepts and working closely with clients to capture client’s thoughts and ideas for the project
Making client presentations without supervision
Managing projects to completion, including work performed by internal and external resources
Assigning tasks, overseeing work, and providing feedback to the project team
Leading coordination with consultants and teammates throughout a project
Establishing, maintaining, and adhering to project budgets and schedules, as well as informing clients of any potential deviations to either
Leading a team of designers in developing technical solutions to design ideas
Organizing project approach, leading communication and meetings with client representatives, service providers, and internal team, guiding toward consensus and future steps
Quality control
Architectural detailing
Participating in executive level meetings
Developing skills of staff for future projects
Managing clients to ensure positive overall relationships resulting in additional business or referred work
Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities with existing and potential clients
To be successful in this role at Carson Design Associates, we expect you to have:
A collaborative and professional work ethic
Advanced knowledge of interior and exterior architecture, design, and concepts
Advanced knowledge of architectural design documentation, detailing, building materials and systems, and construction techniques
Advanced knowledge of general architecture practice including programming, site planning, structural concepts, building codes, and accessibility requirements
The ability to write and coordinate proposals for services, consultants, and contractors
A strong understanding of document deliverables in all phases of design
A proven ability to solve contract and administration issues within the established design context
Proficiency with relevant software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office
Creative problem-solving abilities
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate and quickly build rapport internally and externally with all levels of staff
Strong design skills
Strong organizational skills
Advanced presentation and graphic communication skills
Experience in performing duties in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and deadlines
A demonstrated ability to manage and lead all levels of staff through a combination of direct authority and subject matter expertise
Experience with specification writing
Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture
8+ years experience in field delivering design projects, including projects 15,000 SF+
Registration or path to registration preferred
This is a full-time position with benefits. Travel may be required.
